Your Privacy Choices

As described in our Privacy Policy, we collect personal information from your interactions with us and our website, including through cookies and similar technologies. We may also share this personal information with third parties, including advertising partners. We do this in order to show you ads on other websites that are more relevant to your interests and for other reasons outlined in our privacy policy.

Sharing of personal information for targeted advertising based on your interaction on different websites may be considered "sales", "sharing", or "targeted advertising" under certain U.S. state privacy laws. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to opt out of these activities. If you would like to exercise this opt-out right, please follow the instructions below.

If you visit our website with the Global Privacy Control opt-out preference signal enabled, depending on where you are, we will treat this as a request to opt-out of activity that may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information or other uses that may be considered targeted advertising for the device and browser you used to visit our website.

6. Targeted advertising — "sale" and "sharing"

Read this section even if you skip the rest.

We use advertising technologies — including the Meta pixel, Google tags, and similar tools — that share information about your visit with advertising platforms so we can show you relevant ads and measure whether our ads work.

Under California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas and several other state privacy laws, this counts as "selling" or "sharing" your personal information, or as "targeted advertising," even though no money changes hands.

You can opt out. Use module on the top of this page, or the cookie settings on our site:

We also honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser or extension sends GPC, we treat it as an opt-out request for that browser automatically — you do not need to do anything else.

We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

7. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies for essential site functions, analytics, and advertising. You can manage your preferences at any time on our Cookie Preferences page, and you can block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site from working.

8. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights:

  • Know / access — what personal information we hold about you, and how we use it
  • Delete — ask us to delete personal information we hold about you
  • Correct — fix information that is inaccurate
  • Portability — get a copy in a portable format
  • Opt out — of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, and profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects
  • Limit use of sensitive personal information — we do not collect it, so this does not apply
  • Non-discrimination — we will not give you worse service or different prices for exercising these rights

Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, and a growing number of other US states have these rights under state law. Because the list of states changes regularly, we extend these rights to all US residents rather than checking where you live.

9. How to exercise your rights

Email [support@nixclean.com] with the subject line "Privacy Request," or use the form at [LINK].

We will need to verify your identity before we act — usually by asking you to confirm details that match what we already hold, such as the email address used on an order. We will not ask for more information than we need to do this.

We respond within 45 days, and will tell you if we need a further 45 days.

Authorized agents. You can have someone submit a request for you. We will ask for written permission signed by you, and we may still ask you to verify your own identity directly.

Appeals. If we refuse your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision or emailing [privacy@nixclean.com] with "Privacy Appeal" in the subject line. We will respond within 60 days with our decision and our reasons. If we refuse the appeal, we will tell you how to complain to your state Attorney General.

10. Marketing communications

You can unsubscribe from marketing email using the link at the bottom of any message, or by emailing us. For SMS, reply STOP. We will still send you transactional messages about orders you have placed.

11. Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as we need it:

  • Order and transaction records — [7] years, to meet tax and accounting obligations
  • Account information — until you ask us to delete it
  • Marketing contacts — until you unsubscribe, plus [12] months
  • Analytics and advertising data — [26] months

12. Security

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, restricted access, and vetted processors. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

13. Children

Our site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, email [privacy@nixclean.com] and we will delete it.

14. International transfers and EU/UK visitors

We are established in the Netherlands and our service providers operate in the United States and elsewhere. Personal information is therefore transferred internationally, protected by appropriate safeguards including Standard Contractual Clauses where required.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, additional rights apply to you under the GDPR — including the right to object to processing, the right to withdraw consent at any time, and the right to complain to a supervisory authority. Our supervisory authority is the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl). See our EU Privacy Notice for the full details, including our legal bases for processing.

15. Third-party links

Our site may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Read their policies before giving them information.

16. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top and, where required, notify you by email or a notice on the site.

We do not process special categories of personal data (Article 9), and we do not ask you for any.

Our legitimate interests, stated plainly: running a secure shop, preventing fraud and chargebacks, and telling existing customers about products similar to what they already bought. We have weighed these against your rights and interests. You can object to any of it at any time — see section 7.

Is providing data mandatory? For an order, yes — we cannot deliver a product without a name and address. Everything else is optional.

3. Automated decision-making

We do not make decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects about you by automated means. Our payment provider may run automated fraud checks as part of processing a payment; if a transaction is declined on that basis, contact us and a person will look at it.

4. Advertising, and our shared responsibility with Meta

If you consent to marketing cookies, we use advertising tools including the Meta pixel, Google tags, and [OTHERS]. These send information about your visit — such as pages viewed and purchases made — to those platforms so they can show you ads and measure whether our ads work.

For the collection and transmission of this data, we and Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. act as joint controllers under Article 26 GDPR. We are responsible for obtaining your consent and providing this notice. Meta is responsible for what it does with the data afterwards, and for your rights in relation to that processing. The arrangement between us is summarised in Meta's Controller Addendum. You can exercise your rights against either of us; Meta's own privacy policy explains how.

You can withdraw consent at any time through Cookie Preferences, with no effect on processing that already happened.

5. Cookies

We place non-essential cookies only with your consent, as required by Article 11.7a of the Dutch Telecommunications Act and the ePrivacy Directive. Essential cookies — the ones that keep your cart working and the site secure — are placed without consent because the site cannot function without them.

Full details, and controls, are on our Cookie Preferences page.

6. Who receives your data

We use processors who act only on our instructions, under a data processing agreement as required by Article 28:

Advertising platforms act as independent or joint controllers rather than processors — see section 4.

We do not sell your personal data.

7. Transfers outside the EEA

Some of our providers are established in the United States or process data there. Where that happens, transfers are protected by one of the following:

  • an adequacy decision — including the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, where the recipient is certified under it;
  • Standard Contractual Clauses adopted by the European Commission, together with supplementary technical and organisational measures where our assessment shows they are needed.

You can request a copy of the safeguards in place by emailing [privacy@nixclean.com].

When a retention period ends we delete or irreversibly anonymise the data.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access — obtain a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectification — have inaccurate data corrected
  • Erasure — have your data deleted, where one of the grounds in Article 17 applies
  • Restriction — have processing limited while a dispute is resolved
  • Portability — receive data you gave us in a structured, machine-readable format, and have it transmitted to another controller
  • Object — object at any time to processing based on our legitimate interests, and absolutely and at any time to direct marketing
  • Withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting processing already carried out

To exercise any of these, email [privacy@nixclean.com]. We respond within one month, and will tell you if we need up to two further months because the request is complex.

We may ask for information to confirm your identity, but no more than we need. Exercising your rights is free; we may charge a reasonable fee only for manifestly unfounded or excessive requests.

10. Complaints

If you think we are handling your data unlawfully, please tell us first — we would rather fix it.

You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. In the Netherlands, that is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens:

Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens

Postbus 93374, 2509 AJ Den Haag

autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl

If you are in another EEA country, you may complain to your local supervisory authority instead. In the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

11. Security

We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures under Article 32, including encryption in transit, access controls, and processor due diligence. If a breach occurs that is likely to result in a high risk to your rights, we will inform you without undue delay.

12. Children

Our shop is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly process the data of anyone under 16.

13. Changes

We may update this notice. Material changes will be announced on this page, and by email where the change requires it.
